I’m Matt Norman and I’m a Children’s Pastor

As Wayne mentioned I am now the chief editor for Kidmin1124. I am both excited and nervous at the same time. I am excited about the chance for personal growth. I am excited to see what God is going to do with this site. I am excited for the chance to have an impact on children beyond my church and my ministry. Yet I am nervous as this is something new to me, at least in this role. I am nervous because I can see the huge potential that this site has and there is  a lot of pressure that comes with that.

I am Matt Norman and I am a children’s pastor.  Ephesians 4:11-12 tells me that as a pastor it is my job to equip God’s people for service so that the body of Christ can be built up. Part of my vision for the future of this site is that it would become a place where children’s workers from all over can come for learning and edification. I would like for this to become a site that children’s ministry leaders, whether paid, bi-vocational, or volunteer will send the people on their teams for articles that can help them become even better at reaching children with the gospel.

Currently I am a volunteer children’s pastor and work full-time as an ER nurse. During my 12 years as an ER nurse I have worked as a staff nurse, a charge nurse, and I managed the computer system that we use in our ER. As a staff nurse I had potential to impact every patient that I cared for on a given shift, around 1500 per year. As a charge nurse I could impact every patient that came into the ER during that shift whether I directly cared for them or not, around 10,000 per year. Finally as the system administrator for our computer system I could impact every single patient that came into our ER around 60,000 per year; not to mention the opportunities to help the nurses, doctors and other staff members that used the system. I have viewed my journey in children’s ministry in a similar light. As I’ve worked with children I have potential to impact all the children that I work directly with. As a Children’s Pastor, by equipping my team, I can impact every child that enters our church. Through Kidmin1124 I, and the other writers, have ca potential to impact children all over the world; Children we will never know or even ever meet. My dream for this site would be that it would become a tool that children’s ministry leaders

  1. Matt,

Congratulations on your new position. This is an excellent site. I’m confident you’ll do a great job building upon the foundation that Wayne and the rest of the crew established.

Please let me know if my crew can be of help in your new ministry adventure.

    • Thanks. I will keep you in mind. I have had a couple of special needs kids visit out church, but nothing on a regular basis. Of course, not having a dedicated special needs ministry might have something to do with that. Thanks for the encouragement and I will remember you.

      Matt N.

  2. Matt…God bless you as you take on this important role!
