Several months ago when I was searching ITunes for podcasts about children’s ministry, one of the first ones I came across was Children’s Ministry Talk featuring Dick Gruber and Jason Rhode. Every week, or so…, they tackle issues related to children’s ministry and handle questions from their listeners. Both are experienced children’s ministers who have previously served as Children’s Pastors and now serve in a volunteer position in their church. They are also both professors of Children’s Ministry University Online.
Several weeks ago, I sent an e-mail to Dick and Jason to ask them to add Kidmin1124.com to their ever-growing list of children’s ministry related blogs. In the e-mail, I threw in a couple of questions related to volunteers, namely:
- If you could offer one piece of advice on the best way to recruit volunteers, what would it be?
- If you could share one thing with volunteers about dealing with their Children’s Pastor, what would it be?
Not only were they nice enough to “plug” Kidmin1124 on the podcast, Dick and Jason offered some great advice in answer to the above questions which took up a good chunk of the episode. Make sure to head on over and have a listen. I would also suggest that you add Children’s Ministry Talk to your Itunes library of podcasts. There are several more children’s ministry podcasts out there today (still not enough), but Children’s Ministry Talk is still one of the best!
On the issue of podcasts, let me throw this out there for your consideration and comment. What would you think of a podcast geared entirely towards issues related to volunteers? Would you listen? Is it worth the time?
