Join the Kidmin1124 One Year Bible Reading Challenge

OneYrChallengeAs a volunteer or a children’s pastor, it is important that we constantly feed on God’s word.  At Kidmin1124, we have decided this year to try to help out in the endeavor by offering a one year Bible reading plan.  If you have never read through the entire Bible, or your looking for a new reading plan, or you just feel like joining us on this journey, let’s read the Bible together.  If you do plan to follow this plan, please leave us a quick comment below just letting us know.

I will be using the ESV translation, but feel free to use whatever you are most comfortable with.  I have read through the Bible many times, using several different plans – most of which I came up with myself.  This year, I want to do something I’ve not done yet which is read through the Bible chronologically.  I think this reading plan will open some things up to me that I haven’t seen based on the other reading plans.  Rather than try to come up with the plan myself, I will be using the Daily Bible Reading Program Chronological Plan from BlueLetterBible.org.  I chose this over other Chronological plans as it is available as a reading plan on YouVersion if you are one of the many people (like myself) who use that site.

Each Sunday (or sometimes Saturday) I will post the readings for the coming week.  Feel free to use that post to submit any comments or questions you might have from the week’s reading plan.  Let’s work together to expand our understanding, appreciation and love for God’s word.   We’re a couple days behind (primarily because I just had the idea this morning), so you may need to do a little extra reading this week to “catch up.”

If I can figure out an easy way to do it, I will also be adding the plan to the sidebar of this blog for easy reference.  The plan will also be included in the weekly newsletter which recommences publication this coming Sunday.  So, without further introduction, here is the plan for this week:

  1. My kids & I will be joining you on this journey.

  2. Is this something that can be followed as a YouVersion plan

  3. Beverley, glad to have you on board.

J, I was wondering that myself, or, if it isn’t, if it is something I can set up. Let me look into it & I will let you know!

  4. J, I went ahead and switched the plan I was going to use. The Blue Letter Bible one is substantially the same as the one I was going to use, plus it has the added benefit of being available as a plan on YouVersion (I should have looked first). The change does not make any difference to this first week’s readings. In fact the first differences (which appear to be minor like placement of Psalms) wouldn’t be until April. Thanks for the suggestion. Hope you will join us and comment along the way!

  5. I find it kind of weird that I had decided to do this on my own (the same reading plan and everything). I guess it was a God thing. I’m in. What about a CMConnect group for accountability? I can guarantee I will miss some days, but I’d rather not give up altogether and it’d be nice to have some support and maybe even some discussion.

  6. I’m in too! Thanks Wayne!

  7. I’m in too. And I like the accountability idea too.

  8. Yes you can use the YouVersion Chronological plan. I began using that this morning. It uses the Blue Letter Bible plan and it has an accountability feature where we can all be friends and have an accountability report e-mail sent to yourself and/or a “YouVersion friend” If you’re using YouVersion, I’m “commanderbill” on it, so friend me there and we can keep each other accountable.

  9. Bill,
I didn’t know about the accountability option with youversion. Cool. I’m pastorjaredm if anyone wants to add me there.
